SGA has really shaped me as not only a person but also professionally. My advice for any student entering college is to never be afraid to explore what is out there. Every university has a place for everybody. One just needs to take the leap of faith. I joined Student Government freshman year, and till this day it has been one of my favorite involements at FIU. Here I started off my first year as an intern. This is where I got a first glimpse at my future in SGA. I learned what all the roles consisted of and kept wanting to grow my knowledge. This lead me to run for a position the following year. I was so happy when I got appointed the position of Secretary of Educational Programs. Here I got to lead the internship program myself and shape the next generation of SGA. The following year I ran for Communications + Journalism Senator and got it. I chose this position because it was my major. The rest of the year I worked hard advocating for my fellow journalism peers.
